Here the reason is why you should read my blog is that all the sites out there will only show you the data that are released by the official site of WBJEE. But on the other hand, I am a person who had gone through all these as in am a Techno India Saltlake. I think I can give you all the details about these colleges and you can decide on your own...
IEM
It is a collage that so many sites put this on top but truth is far different. I am not telling that its cut-offs are low. To take admission in this college you need a good rank. But all these ranks and cut off are decided by the MAKAUT(WBUT) on the basis of previous year student choices of taking the college. The reason why the other sites show IEM on top because its previous placements records are better. And why these records are better because previously IEM only teaches the IT subjects and these are ECE, CSE and IT. Then the companies like TCS come and give the huge number of placements. But in TCS the average placement is about 3 lakh to 3.5 lakh per annum. In other colleges due to other branches like ME, EE, CIVIL the percentage of placements goes down and which in turn makes its ranking low. The first batch of the core branches are not placed yet and when they get placed the ranking definitely will go down. I any private college core company takes only about 2-5 students only on the basis of his GATE ranking. The college only can invite these companies. All the above college invites the same no. of these core companies.
Believe me, guys if you have a talent you can still do great in other college so if you got a higher ranking you can leave this college.
The other disadvantage of IEM is that it is so strict. Many students call it as a school. Seriously there is no difference between school and IEM. The reason why I am telling this because it has a strict timing, every student has to report at 9:00 AM and there is a prayer also which every student has to attend, after that you have to do all the classes, you can't skip anyone. I personally think it is very bad for a student after school spending life in this type of collage.
HERITAGE
About this college, I personally think that if you are choosing amongst the best WBJEE private college this collage is the best. Why because after IEM this is the only college which has the better placements records. The infrastructure is also better than IEM and TECHNO.The build up area is much bigger. The only cons is that it is situated at the outer side of kolkata, so transport is an issue. For this college, many of my friends take PG and flats on rent on Ruby but still have to travel about 45 min in the bus.
The placements in these colleges are almost same but SLIGHTLY better. I used the word "almost same" because in these type of colleges if you want a core company job your placements stats solely decided by your GATE marks. Almost same no of core companies come in all the above 3 colleges.
Another thing about this college is that it is an autonomous college. That means it does not follow MAKAUT(WBUT) exams and holidays. They take their own exams. In techno and IEMthe question paper comes from MAKAUT(WBUT) and for evaluating marks it goes to MAKAUT(WBUT) whereas in heritage they take their own exams and evaluate on their own. But there is no problem with that as the evaluation process and the exam difficulty remains the same. There are so many autonomous collages in West Bengal and others are under MAKAUT(WBUT).
TECHNO INDIA SALTLAKE
This college is only 2 mins away from IEM. Infrastructure is slightly better than IEM. There is a big confusion amongst many students about different Techno colleges that are in Kolkata. In Kolkata, there are more than 10 colleges with the same name of techno india, the word after techno India decides which one. Here we are talking about Techno India Saltlake. It is located behind the Techno India University, which is another different college.
Here also you can take admission if you got lower ranks. There is no such huge difference.
At last, I would like to tell all of you that you all should do the choice filling with full attention. For that, you can take advice from me because many of my friends with 2k ranks lastly got admission in colleges like mine due to this mistake. I will soon update a post giving you info about this too.
